Summer is here, and with it that old tug of nostalgia for camp — those fluttery feelings of trying new things, meeting new people, making memories, and feeling like anything might be possible. Even though we’re far too old to sleep on the ground, there’s still something about the start of summer that makes us want to explore and imagine who we might become.
So we thought: why not create our own version of summer camp at GDI?
A place where you can meet new people, try new things, be brave, ask questions, and make discoveries — all without the bugs, dirt, or questionable cafeteria food.
With that, let us formally invite you to GDI’s Career Camp.
Career Camp is a summer series designed to help you explore the world of tech with curiosity, openness, and a little sense of adventure. Throughout the summer, we’ll be joined by women from across the tech industry sharing honest stories about how they found their way into tech, what surprised them along the journey, and how their unique experiences shaped the careers they have today.
Because the truth is: there is no official trail map for tech.
People arrive from everywhere — education, nonprofits, healthcare, retail, customer service, creative work, caregiving, communications, community organizing, and countless other paths. And those experiences matter. They shape how we solve problems, collaborate with others, build products, support communities, and lead teams.
That’s what Career Camp is all about.
Throughout the summer, we’ll gather around the virtual campfire with women across the tech industry to hear honest stories about career pivots, unexpected opportunities, creativity, confidence, community-building, and the winding paths that eventually led them into tech.
