About this event

Have you ever used a website or product that just works, and wondered "How did they do that?" Are you building your own application but aren't sure where to start? By getting to know the people who use products and designing specifically for them, UX professionals create experiences that are delightful and easy to use.

In this workshop, we'll show you how it's done and get hands-on putting some of the basics into practice. Here's an overview of what we'll cover:

What is User Experience? A definition and key principles How UX relates to the worlds of technology and business The UX Design process Framing problems: How to get started Research and Discovery: Methods for uncovering user needs Design and visualizing ideas: Sketching, wireframing, and prototyping  

Pre-Requisites: None. This is a beginner class so just come with an open mind and enthusiasm to learn!

Golli is the Director of User Experience at GiveForward, where she gets to help people raise money online for their loved ones in need. She is co-founder of DUXX: Women of Design & UX and a design mentor and team advisor at the Starter League. She believes that a user-centered design approach can solve all the world's problems. And if that doesn't work, an improviser's attitude is her go-to approach.

Ariel is a user experience architect and strategist who believes his field is *it*: the most exciting place to be in our rapidly-changing information-driven world. He's designed products and services for a range of industries and interface mediums, including web and mobile, speech recognition, aviation, and retail. He's lived on both coasts but currently calls Chicago home, where he free-lances while pursuing an executive masters at IIT Institute of Design. He enjoys chicken-salad sandwiches on the weekends, and is right-handed.
