Want to learn how to build your own website? Already have your own Tumblr/Wordpress/etc site, but want to have more control over it? Interested in learning to program but want to start small? This class is for you!
We will guide you through the basics of HTML and CSS, give you some readily-applicable skills, and answer any questions you may have along the way.
This 2-part HTML/CSS course runs for two Saturdays:
Workshop 1: Saturday, August 9 10a-2p
Workshop 2: Saturday, August 23 10a-2p
Due to the restrictions of Meetup's registration, we can't schedule multi-day events, so keep in mind that this Meetup event serves as registration for the entire course.
Please bring/install the following on your computer prior to class:
• Your laptop and charger. Note: A netbook or tablet is NOT a substitute.
You can take a sneak peak at the slides** here: http://www.girldevelopit.com/materials. Look for the Introduction to HTML/CSS core curriculum. This series will cover Class 1 through Class 4 materials. **The teacher may customize/update these slides, but the core material will remain the same.
<a href="http://disruption.vc/">Disruption Corporation is generously providing space at their Crystal Tech Fund offices in Crystal City for our classes! They are an amazing partner, and we encourage you to Tweet your thanks @disruptioncorp
There's an underground parking garage at the intersection of Crystal Dr. and 23rd St. - you can park there (follow signs to bldg 2231). Parking in this garage should be free if you mention you are with Crystal Tech Fund when leaving. Alternately, you can take the metro to the Crystal City metro station on yellow/blue lines. The office is only a couple short blocks away.
Refund Policy: Your payment guarantees your seat in the course. If something changes after registration and you cannot attend the course, your seat is yours to sell or give to someone else - just please let us know who! As a rule we don't offer refunds or credits; Instead your class fee will go toward our chapter fund which we will use to establish a scholarship fund going forward. That said, please do reach out and let us know if you have extenuating circumstances.
