You are comfortable with HTML, and you've heard all the hype about HTML5. Ready to take it to the next level andĀ find out what all the fuss is about? Then join us for this one evening course on HTML5!

Note: You must sign up with your full name for security at the Control Group.

HTML5 is a big topic, so this course will focus on the following:

Resources to get started: The HTML5 Boilerplate New semantic elements like <header>, <nav> and <footer> Basics of Responsive Web Design, including how to use media queries to change your site based on the size of the window or the device Making forms better with HTML5! New input types for email and url Making form fields required with a single attribute! Form validation via attributes! Creating your own custom form validation (including how to add your own custom images to show certain selections are invalid) New elements: <video> and <audio> The Modernizr JavaScript library and how it can help you use HTML5 today, even in older browsers HTML5 and Search: How Microdata may improve your Google Rich Snippets This course is taught by Alexis Goldstein, a co-author of the book "HTML5 and CSS3 for the Real World" and author of "Learning CSS3 Animations"

Note: This course assumes a basic knowledge of HTML and CSS, and we will not have time in class to cover or review the basics.
