About this event

JavaScript is a the language of interactivity on the web. Ever used Google maps? Clicked on something to make it appear or hide? Seen a slideshow of images? You have used JavaScript! Learn how to beginning and start creating interactive sites. We will be covering basic Javascript, to the JQuery library, dynamic HTML, JSON and APIs (don't worry this will all make sense by the end of class!)

Because JavaScript interacts with HTML elements, we suggest having a working knowledge of HTML as a pre-requisite for this course.

There are many resources to learn HTML online, including this free course from Code Academy.

This 4-class JavaScript course runs on the following schedule:

Class 1, Introduction to Javascript: Monday, February 2nd, 7-9pm

Class 2, Functions, Arrays, Loops, and Objects: Monday, February 9th, 7-9pm

Class 3, Introduction to jQuery: Monday, February 16th , 7-9pm

Class 4, AJAX, APIs and sharing data: Monday, February 23rd, 7-9pm

Note: When you register, you MUST provide your first and last name for security at DBC. You will check in at the front desk before going up to the 15th floor.

About the teacher:

"Language is important to me. I spent 8 years as a speech therapist dedicated to improving communication - and then I found the language of code. The intricacies of coding and its infinite reach through technology drew me firmly into the world of web development, and now my love of language extends to Ruby and JavaScript. Improving communication remains important to me, but the tools I use to do so have changed."

Corey is a teaching assistant for DBC and Codecademy / ReskillUSA.
