About this event

This 2 part Intro to JavaScript MVC Frameworks course runs Tuesday, July 21th AND Wednesday, July 22th. The class time will be from 7-9:30pm each evening.

MVC is a framework for building web applications using a MVC (Model View Controller) design. Nowadays, most web developers are using "MVC" concepts and frameworks to organize the JavaScript that powers their website and better separate the presentation from the data. In this evening workshop, we'll start by giving an overview of what MVC is and what it looks like in the frame of JavaScript. We'll also cover an overview of popular JavaScript MVC frameworks, like Backbone, but we will not focus on any framework in particular. Finally, we'll get our hands dirty working on some actual MVC-related JavaScript exercises!

Class Prerequisites:

You should be fairly familiar with JavaScript and Object-Oriented programming - either by attending our workshops or learning elsewhere. jQuery and AJAX skills are a plus but not required.

You should have an understanding of the following basic concepts:

- What functions look like
- What Objects and Arrays look like
- What a variable is and how it's used

What to bring to class:

- A laptop that you can install programs on (netbooks and tablets will not work!)
- Sublime Text 3 or another text editor to write code
- Google Chrome and/or Mozilla Firefox browsers installed for viewing/testing code
