Want to learn how to build your own website? Already have your own Tumblr/Wordpress/etc site, but want to have more control over it? Interested in learning to program but want to start small? This one-day workshop is for you!
We will guide you through the basics of HTML and CSS, give you some readily-applicable skills, and answer any questions you may have along the way. We'll start at 9:30, take a lunch break at 12:30, and end at 6:30.
The course will be taught by Pamela Fox, a frontend developer for Coursera. If you're interested in helping out as a teaching assistant, please let us know. (If you recently took the HTML/CSS class, TAing can be a great test of your skills!)
Please install the following prior to class:
A code editor. We recommend Notepad++ for Windows and SublimeText for Mac.
A modern browser. We recommend Google Chrome (best) or Mozilla Firefox with the Firebug plugin.
Many thanks to our sponsor Causes for the wonderful space. Causes is a free online platform that provides easy-to-use tools for driving change.
If you'd like to attend but cannot afford the cost, please request a GDI scholarship.
Please note that we cannot issue refunds, since there's an overhead to issuing refunds via Meetup.com and we already offer the workshops at such a low-cost. We put proceeds into the chapter fund, which we use as our scholarship fund.
