JS101: JavaScript Basics Bootcamp (Self-paced, 2 days)

Hackbright Academy - 683 Sutter St San Francisco - View Map Girl Develop It San Francisco
Jun 20 - 21, 2015, 11:45 AM (PDT)

About this event

JavaScript is the programming language that makes web pages interactive, and is now used these days to make servers, robots, and more. That makes it one of the most useful first languages to learn, if you're just getting started with programming, and particularly web development.

This two-day workshop will be largely "self-paced". That means that we'll start with a round of introductions and an overview of JS, and then you'll watch videos and do challenges at your own pace, using Khan Academy. We will be there to answer questions and help you out throughout the day, and we'll take breaks for lunch (provided), snacks, and socializing.

We will go from 11:45am to 6:00pm on both Saturday and Sunday, and each day will start with catered lunch.

This workshop is targeted at beginners to programming and will cover variables, functions, logic, loops, arrays, and objects. If you already know another language, you're welcome to come, you'll probably just find that you work at a faster pace.

If you are interested in being a teaching assistant for this workshop, please let us know. TAing is a great way to practice what you know and to get to know members of our community.

Please bring your laptop, charger, and headphones, and <a>complete the Hour of Code before coming</a>.

Thank you to Hackbright Academy for the great location!

If you'd like to attend but cannot afford the cost, please request a GDI scholarship. If you are interested in being a TA, please fill out this form.
