About this event

Want to make your webpages interactive? Then you'll need to use JavaScript, the language of the web.

In this one-day workshop, we will cover how to use JavaScript with webpages - starting with using it to manipulate the HTML/CSS on a page, then attaching events to respond to user interaction, and finally, animating parts of your page.

This workshop will be a traditional format, a combination of live lectures and exercise time, with TAs to help you through the exercises.

Prerequisites:

This workshop assumes that you have already learnt JavaScript basics - either by attending our JS101 (March 15th-16th), Codecademy, Khan Academy, Eloquent JS, or elsewhere. You should have an understanding of variables, functions, arrays, and objects.

This workshop also assumes you have a basic understanding of HTML/CSS, like from our HTML/CSS workshop (March 1st-2nd), Codecademy, or elsewhere.

If you're not sure if you have the prerequisite knowledge, please send me a message.

Supplies:

Please bring a laptop and charger. If you do not have a laptop, please send me a message.

Bicycles:

There is bike parking in the basement. Please do not bring bicycles up to the 8th floor.

Thank you to Hack Reactor for the great location!

If you'd like to attend but cannot afford the cost, please request a GDI scholarship.

Please note that we cannot issue refunds, since there's an overhead to issuing refunds via Meetup.com and we already offer the workshops at such a low-cost. We put proceeds into the chapter fund, which we use as our scholarship fund
