About this event

Grace Hopper is credited with popularizing the term "debugging" for fixing computer glitches (inspired by an actual moth removed from the computer). In practice, debugging is an essential skill for programming success. As Web Developers, we have an array of helpful tools to help diagnose issues and fix our code.

This class will give an overview of Chrome's developer tools, as well as introduce essential tools to debug and edit JavaScript and HTML/CSS. Not only will you leave with a better understanding of how to fix problems; you will also gain tools to better understand JavaScript and the DOM.

This workshop assumes that you have already learnt JavaScript basics - either by attending our JS101-JS200, Codecademy, Khan Academy, Eloquent JS, or elsewhere. You should have an understanding of variables, functions, arrays, objects, and events.

This workshop also assumes you have a basic understanding of HTML/CSS, like from our HTML/CSS class, Codecademy, or elsewhere.

Please install Google Chrome prior to the class. You will also need your own laptop and charger. If you do not have a laptop, please send me a message.

There is bike parking in the garage and in front of the building. Please do not bring bicycles into the lobby.

Thank you to Macys.com for the great location!

If you'd like to attend but cannot afford the cost, please request a GDI scholarship.
