You don't have to do it all alone!  Our engaging and informal panel discussion, featuring powerful women from our partners at Turing, share the value of mentoring - not just in finding one, but having one and being one. Join us to discover new ways to connect, build community, and for valuable networking opportunities as we celebrate Women's History Month!

Panelists:

Nikki Peterson: Nikki is a Frontend Engineer working with Vue.js but also has experience as a Fullstack Engineer (React/Ruby) and Scrum Master. In past lives she worked in the medical field for 14+ years and nonprofits for 5+ years. She is a mentor with Turing as well as being on the Mentor Committee, and at work she is leading a pilot program in Software Craftsmanship to mentor new engineers at Worthwhile. She has three hilarious kids, three cats who are constantly plotting her death, and one dog who thinks he's a cat.

Leah Riffel: I’m Leah and I learned how to code at the Turing School of Software and Design in 2021 and am now working as a developer at Shopify building payment processing systems. Before Turing, I worked in project management and UX design for a while but was craving work that was more technical. I’m excited to talk about mentorship today because community and relationship building is so important to me.

Cydnee Owens: Hello! My name is Cydnee and I am a full-time Software Engineer by day and a Turing TA by night. I currently reside in the Bay area, but I am originally from Denver, CO. I graduated from Turing's BE program with the 2011 cohort. I love to travel, dance, speak multiple languages and sewing! - I am always on the hunt for fabric!

Raquell Hill: Raquell is a driven and motivated frontend software engineer with a proven ability to manage a team of professionals through quality leadership and effective communication. Her goal is to constantly learn new technologies, to advance my skills as a team-member and developer, and to never be the smartest person in the room. Raquel believes that innovative technology is essential to building efficiencies and solving problems. She hopes to combine her software development skills with her entrepreneurial spirit to build technologies that have a positive impact on the world. Her mentor was an integral part of her success and she is excited to share her story with people interested in a career in tech.
