Are you interested in exploring your first coding language? Looking to enhance your web skills beyond HTML and CSS? JavaScript is a great first language to learn and start your coding journey. This class combines live virtual learning with on-demand classes that will take you from a true beginner to a proficient coder.

Overview

Looking to get started as a developer? JavaScript is a great first language to learn and can prepare you for other languages. 

Interested in building dynamic websites? Learning JavaScript is a must to turn static pages into engaging browsing experiences.

In this beginner-friendly series, you will learn programming fundamentals and foundational JavaScript topics:

  • Variables and the basic JavaScript data types (Strings, Numbers, Booleans, Arrays), and operators
  • Understanding control flow—how to set up code logic with conditional statements (if/else, ternary and switch statements)
  • Creating basic loops (for and while loops) to repeat tasks
  • Writing functions to make code reusable and flexible
  • Working with built-in JavaScript methods for Strings, Numbers, Arrays and Objects

This class kicks off with a live virtual session that provides an orientation to JavaScript and then provides on-demand (pre-recorded) materials to take you step-to-step through learning JavaScript basics.

Instructor Office House (AMA): Tuesday, Jan. 30th 2024, 6:00pm - 7:00pm ET / 3:00pm - 4:00pm PT on class Zoom link (shared in notes and on Slack following registration)

Class Cost: $80 ( 2 hours of live virtual session + 12 hours of pre-recorded videos)

Prerequisites:

No prior programming experience is required. Basic knowledge of HTML & CSS is recommended, but not required. We do have an Intro to HTML & CSS course you can take. If you have prior programming experience, you’re welcome to enroll, but this series may be too introductory for you.
