Unlock the power of databases with our hands-on SQL project class, ideal for beginners and those looking to deepen their SQL skills! This 'code-along' style series will run over four consecutive Saturdays from September 7 to October 5, 12:00 PM to 2:30 PM ET. Dive into the world of SQL in a supportive and interactive environment.

What to Expect:

Throughout this series, you'll engage in practical coding exercises, receive real-time feedback, and work on projects that reinforce your understanding of SQL. Whether you're new to databases or looking to enhance your skills, this class will provide the guidance and practice you need to become proficient in SQL.

What to Expect:

  • MySQL Workbench Installation and SQL Review:  Install MySQL Workbench and review essential SQL concepts. Understand the interface and basic SQL operations.
  • Projects Brief + Foundational SQL Commands: Overview of the project requirements and hands-on review of foundational SQL commands with practical examples.
  • Project Code Along Programming:  Engage in a live coding session focused on the project, applying SQL knowledge in a practical context.
  • Project Presentations + Solution Discussion: Present projects, discuss solutions, and outline next steps based on feedback and class size.
Each Wednesday, open office hours for students will be held by the instructor to address questions and provide suggestions.

Tech Requirements:

  • Your laptop (Mac, PC, Linux) and charger
  • A web browser
  • Recommended: Chrome
  • Optional: A Github account
  • Optional: Join GDI’s Community Slack channel (Invites will be sent after registration)
