This 'code-along' style series will take place over four consecutive Saturdays, Oct. 12 - Nov. 2, from 12:00 PM to 2:30 PM ET, providing a supportive and interactive environment to learn and practice Python.

Join us for an exciting and immersive hands-on Python project class, perfect for beginners and those looking to solidify their foundational coding skills! This 'code-along' style series will take place over four consecutive Saturdays this fall from 12:00 PM to 2:30 PM ET, providing a supportive and interactive environment to learn and practice Python.

What to Expect:

  • Class 1: Jupyter and Python Installation + Python Review: Install Jupyter and Python, followed by a review of essential Python concepts and setup. Understand the environment for coding.
  • Class 2: Projects Brief + Review of Foundational Python Commands:  Introduction to the project goals and a detailed review of foundational Python commands with practical examples. 
  • Class 3: Project Code Along Programming:  Participate in a live coding session, focusing on applying Python and SQL knowledge to the project. 
  • class 4: Project Presentations + Solution Discussion: Present and discuss project solutions, followed by planning the next steps based on group feedback and size.

  • Saturday, February 8 at 12:00p - 3:00p ET / 9:00a - 12:00p PT
  • Saturday, February 15  at 12:00p - 3:00p ET / 9:00a - 12:00p PT
  • Saturday, February 22 at 12:00p - 3:00p ET / 9:00a - 12:00p PT

Throughout this series, you'll engage in practical coding exercises, receive real-time feedback, and build projects that reinforce your understanding of Python. Whether you're new to coding or looking to enhance your skills, this class will provide the guidance and practice you need to become proficient in Python.

Each Wednesday, an open office hour will be held for students to connect with the instructor for support and questions. 

Tech Requirements:

  • Your laptop (Mac, PC, Linux) and charger
  • A web browser
  • Recommended: Chrome
  • Optional: A Github account
  • Optional: Join GDI’s Community Slack channel (Invites will be sent after registration)
