About this event

JavaScript is the world's most popular programming language for a reason -- it's the primary way to build interaction on the web. Learning JavaScript is a logical next step once you've learned HTML/CSS.

This class will teach students the basics of JavaScript and how to use JavaScript to enhance web projects.

The class will cover:

  • Variable Naming Rules, JavaScript Data Types and Operators
  • Control Flow and Data Structures (Objects and Arrays)
  • Defining Functions and Methods
  • Using JavaScript to make your Website do amazing things!

INSTRUCTOR: Tinuola "Tinu" Awopetu

Tinuola “Tinu" Awopetu is a UI-UX Developer with many incarnations in Tech: Content Producer-Writer, Marketing Manager, Community Evangelist, Blogger, Podcaster, and Women’s Leadership Advocate. She “stumbled” into a coding bootcamp one day and discovered a new creative sweet spot. Learning about and working with front-end technology excites her constantly. By teaching and sharing her experiences, she hopes to encourage and support other Women and BIPOC to claim their place in Tech. When not coding (or troubleshooting CSS), she’s on a yoga mat, or catching up on her favorite streaming shows, or reading fiction.

No shows: Your course fee will be donated to the GDI scholarship fund.

Cancellation Policy: Class is subject to cancellation if there are fewer than 5 registrations 5 days before class start date.

Code of Conduct: Girl DevelopIt mission is focused on providing opportunities for women to learn web and software development, but our classes and events are open to all genders and identities. We are dedicated to providing a welcoming and comfortable environment for all to learn to code and every attendee is expected to uphold our Code of Conduct
