This Women's Month culminating event will be our Project Ricotta Hackathon! This unique hackathon will use OSS contributions from GDI participants to create new web access for a global nonprofit, Lasagna Love.  All March long, speakers and workshops will provide you with the information, tools, and network to gain knowledge about using OSS and will result in a project you can proudly share as your own.

Individuals who participate in this Hackathon will be paired with peers who have similar experiences and will be mentored by experienced volunteers who will support your process.  The Hackathon will kick-off on Friday, March 31 at 12p ET / 9am PT. Prior to the event, set-up and prep events are available; it is recommended that you attend every March workshop to ensure you are informed and prepared to participate in this Hackathon. You should attend Intro to Git, Github & the Terminal or have previous experience with pushing, pulling, branching, and handling merge conflicts before attending this workshop. You should also attend Contributing to Open Source using Git & Github or have previous experience with forking, rebasing and fetching.

Technical Requirements:

• A laptop or computer
• Terminal or command line installed
• IDE installed (VS Code and Sublime Text are great options)
• Git installed and setup (see our Intro to Git, Github & the Terminal workshop)
• Active Github account
